Can I SAVE $$ on groceries?

Since I have been laid off from work I have been working to try to budget our meals better and figure out how to save money on groceries. In doing this process I have found that there is a lot of money to be saved it you can just budget and be somewhat frugal! Frugal is a word that has never been in my vocabulary but starting now it is! I decided to make this blog worthwhile by sharing some of my findings, ideas, suggestions, etc. I want feedback to know if what I am providing is helpful or not so please comment and let me know!

First let me say that I am the most unfrugal(is that a word)person you will ever met. I have always been spoiled, gotten what I wanted, and pretty much ever needed or wanted for anything. So to use the terms saving, penny penching, coupon clipping, frugal…WOW that is way out of my vocabulary! I have started very slowly and hope to turn this into something BIG! Welcome to my PERSONAL CHALLENGE! My challenge is to plan, save, and just try new things! Let’s see how I will do!!!

First I decided that I needed to take an inventory of exactly what we had in our house as far as food so we inventory the pantry, the outside freezer and everything in the inside refrigerator and freezer. Once I did that I decided to come up with a monthly meal plan-YES I am planning our meals out a month in advance to try to save some $$. If anyone wants me to email them my monthly meal plan spreadsheet let me know and I will forward it on to you. My next thing was to figure out what I needed to buy at the grocery store. As I was doing this I starting researching Angel Food Ministries, http://www.angelfoodministries.com/, to figure out what kinds of deals they have. Angel Food is a Christian Organization that distributes food on monthly basis to those that sign up for it. It is NOT any kind of low income based program. It is for any family that is interested in it. I had never done it so we decided to try it for once month to see if we liked it. They have many different packages and we chose two of them. We spent $53 and got what I consider a good amount of food. Here is what we got this month:

My next goal is to start trying to save/clip coupons. I have found some great websites to help with that. Once of the sites I found was http://www.cellfire.com/. On this website you can pick coupons you want and then add them to your Kroger card. Also on the iphone they have an application where you can see what coupons you added to your cellfire so that it can help you shop. Another site that does something similar is http://www.print.coupon.com/
These are just a few things that I have found to being helping me save, save, save.
Please let me hear your comments. If you have things you want me to research and find out more about them let me know!!!!!!

Faith

I came along this today and I just love it and wanted to share it:
Faith is the soil in which we plant our dreams so they can grow.

Random Pics!

Here are some random pics I decided to post:
This is Todd and Lauren on Father's Day! I took it with my phone so it is not the best pic!!!

And another Photo on Father's Day!

Okay so I said this was going to be RANDOM! Here are some Yellow Box shoes that my sister sent me for my birthday(it is not until August)but you know a girl can never have enough Yellow Box Flip Flops! Are these not the cutest shoes you have ever seen? I just LOVE THEM!!!!

Here is Miranda at the airport before she left for Wisconsin to go see her dad!!!

That is all I got for now!!!!!! Oh well I told you it was going to be VERY RANDOM!!!
Last week was very nice. I went to Atlanta and was able to stay with my sister. It was so great to see her and spend alittle time with her. I also did some accounting work for my brother in law. It was nice to be back in the real world working and very nice to be appreciated for what I was doing!!! I got back Friday night and have been busy ever since. I have been on a cleaning spree lately. I pretty much keep my house clean but I have been wanting to do some additional extra deep cleaning so as I find time I have been doing some of that!!! WOO HOO!!! I love nothing better than a good smelling, clean house! It makes me SMILE!!!

We had Lauren this weekend for Father's Day so that was nice. We sure did and do miss Miranda. She is with her dad for two more weeks so it is mighty quite and sad without her. Lauren mentioned missing her several times this weekend.

I am working on finishing up the inside of the house today and tomorrow will work outside in the yard! It should be good and hot for that! The temps have been right at 100 degrees so it is very hot!!! I will have to get outside very early to get the outside work done :)

I hope everyone is having a terffic Monday!!!!!

WOW What just happened?

I have sat down several times to write this but just couldn't get it all together so here is another attempt:

WOW! Where do I even start! Let's see my health is really really good. I am doing GREAT! I went to the doctor last Monday and she said I was doing GREAT! My only problem has been sleeping and some hormonal issues which we are addressing! Hopefully those will be solved soon!!!

So on to more news.....Well last Tuesday(June 2) my boss called and asked me to meet him for coffee. I went to meet him when I walked in I saw the HR lady sitting there also. I knew something was happening! WEll guess what....I was laid off! :( I had all kinds of emotions....anger, sadness, hurt, etc. etc )I am still dealing with this shocking news. I did get a severance package and I have checked into unemployment so I do have some kind of money coming in! I still just can't believe they did it but I must just move on. I have started working on building my Premier business and I am also working on a few other small jobs here and there. For a while I am going to try to do Premier and work on and off with my brother in law. He owns a CPA firm in Atlanta so I am going to do some work for him. I am very excited about that!!! I am also looking to see what is out there and submitting resumes. I am just trying to find what it is that I want and need to do with my life right now. I still am having such crazy feelings.....everything from anger to feeling like I have let everyone down. I know I did my best and worked as hard as I could but I just sit here and question if I had not gone on medical leave or done this or done that would this not have happened. I know I have to get over that but it is just hard! Todd has been great and very very supportive of this whole situation! I am so thankful to have him!!!

I am trying to get Miranda ready because she leaves to go to her dad's tomorrow. She will be gone for three weeks! I am going to miss her like crazy but I am also very glad she is getting to spend some time with her dad.

I helped with Bible School this week at church. I took pictures and did a Powerpoint each night for the ending program for the day! It was alot of fun and I really enjoyed it!

I have got alot planned in the next month and a half. Next week I got to Atlanta to work, then in the middle of July I got to Dallas to the Premier RAlly, then two weeks later we go to the beach! WOO HOO! I at least have some things to keep me busy!!!

I hope everyone is doing great!!! I plan to update more often!!!
