Humbled

Our church opened it's doors Sunday night for evacuees that needed a place to stay. The church sent out an email request for things they needed. Our church is a very giving church so they were provided with everything they needed. Todd and I took a queen size air mattress and some sleeping bags up to the church for them to use.

Today my mom and I both made Chicken Rotel to take up to the church tonight for supper. We were able to talk to some of the evacuees. It was such a humbling experience to talk to them and find out where they were from and what there story was. One lady that I was able to spend some time with was from New Orleans. Of cours during Katrina she had to leave also--during that time she went to Dallas and ended up staying for about 6 months. She decided this time she wanted to go a different direction. Her family went to Dallas but she choose to venture out and head North. She went to Memphis to find no rooms then she headed back to Southaven to have no luck. She ended up at the Days Inn in Hernando where they did not have rooms either BUT the lady at the Days Inn told her that our church had opened up so she came to our church. She was very thankful to have a place to stay. She was such a sweet lady. I have a great respect for her to get in her car by herself and just drive. She really touched me!

Have a GREAT week!
